Authorities in California announced that the fire in El Dorado burning in the Yucaipa area was started by a pyrotechnic device used at a party on 5 September and the fire has since burned over 13.5k acres of land.

On that Saturday, the family was using pyrotechnics to shoot a gender reveal announcement. The device did not work properly and ignited a nearby brush. The investigators say that the family members did try to put out the flames, however they could now face numerous charges including the reckless lighting of a fire and be liable for losses and firefighting costs.

The fire is by now only 31% contained. “In my 30 years as a citizen in Yucaipa, I have never seen such a large fire. As a retired firefighter with 32 years of experience, I can assure you I witnessed one of the most dangerous fires that we can have in this area,” said Yucaipa Mayor David Avila.

Apart from the massive forced evacuations, multiple roads have been closed along with a forest as it chars the region. The couple has been now ordered to repay $8 million USD in damages. In 2019, several such parties triggered all sorts of accidents, including arsons and it is because of parents who use various pyrotechnic devices in order to impress their party guests, that the temperature in Los Angeles holds a record temperature of 49.4 degrees Celsius.

Due to the high temperatures, about 1,000 fires started in California. Back in 2017, a party in Arizona led to a wildfire that razed 47k acres after a man shot an explosive substance at a target. The largest fire reported so far is the one known as Creek Fire, which impacted more than 73k acres of the Sierra Forest.

What is your opinion about this? Do you think that the couple is to blame?
How do you think people can become more aware of the potential damage they can cause?

This is so devastating , The investigators say that the family members did try to put out the flames, however they could now face numerous charges including the reckless lighting of a fire and be liable for losses and firefighting costs may teach others not to be so unaware of the consequences to the environment they all live in

The people should be more aware in which environment they live and in what climatic conditions. While children learn this in schools adults very quickly forget about such details that are important.

If you are going to use something dangerous , you need to take all the precautions so something like this doesn't happen. I think they need to take responsibility but it's not just their fault , I believe that the law and security for these type of things should be bigger.
