When will big social events like concerts go ahead again?
Closed

A concert recently took part in Barcelona where 5,000 music fans took part in an experiment to test the spread of the virus while wearing masks, but not practicing social distancing. All participants had tested negative for Covid-19 prior to the event and only six people tested positive within two weeks of attending the gig.

As part of the research project, authorisation was needed and Spanish authorities gave it the green light, allowing the evening featuring band Love of Lesbian to go ahead. It was reported in the findings that the rate of infection among attendees was half the rate of people of the same age group in Barcelona.

It was one of the largest social gatherings held in Europe since the beginning of the pandemic and it comes just in time as countries across the globe look into the possibilities of holding public events safely for all involved.

Speaking about the results of the researchers and scientific advisors, the band tweeted that they "hope that from now on, after these excellent results, the world of culture will be listened to as it deserves to be."

What do you think about the findings?

Are you confident that public and social events, like concerts, will be held again safely in the near future?

When did you last go to a concert?

In my opinion i think it's too early for such an event to take place. We should wait until we are 100% sure about the spread of the varus

I have not attended big concerns. I think online concerts will be the new way to go for now to be safe and in smaller groups if not online - it is possible that within the next year, more or less, open air concerts will become a new trend.

In my opinion, I think it is still too soon to be having such events. I don't think it is wise to hastely move into our norms, for the future is unpredictable.

In my opinion I would say keep such events closed until there is good evidence that the vaccine works and that everyone can receive them.

It should be kept close until when when we are sure that vaccine is working.
