So you like Coke?..

Coca-Cola is one of the most popular soft drinks in the world, especially popular among young people. Do you know how this drink affects our body? Is it really worth choosing the diet version of this drink?

As Coca-Cola became popular all over the world, we see that this drink has become almost water for some, although it was developed as a medicine. Sometimes people use this drink to improve digestion, and in fast food restaurants we get this “golden” drink because otherwise we would probably not digest such food :). The time has come for people to start reading labels and find out that after drinking a can of this drink (330 ml) we get as much as 35 g of sugar . This is more than the recommended daily amount for sugar for an adult, and the daily amount for a child is exceeded several times.

It is important to note that it is not sugar itself that is evil, but its excess. In this case, when drinking a soft drink, we overdose on sugar very easily. Then the sugar in the body is converted into saturated fat, which is detrimental to health, increases weight and blood cholesterol. This contributes to the development of cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. It is not for nothing that the incidence of cardiovascular disease is increasing at a younger age.

But I only drink Coca-Cola Zero because it is sugar and calorie free, -- many people say. Is it really a healthier option of this drink? In such drinks, sugar is usually replaced by synthetic sweeteners, which are dominated by chemicals, many of which have carcinogenic properties and no energy and nutrients. Sugar-free cola contains: water, carbon dioxide, colourant (E150d) , acids (phosphoric acid , citric acid), sweeteners (aspartame, acesulfame K) , flavouring (including caffeine). Such drinks not only do no good to the body, but are also harmful. For example, sodium cyclamate E952 cannot even be absorbed by the human body, aspartame E951 cannot be consumed by people with impaired amino acid metabolism. It is not for nothing that sweeteners such as aspartame or acesulfan K are prohibited in children's diets. There are safe limits for use in adults, but if you consume more products with sweeteners, you can exceed the safe dose several times, as each manufacturer can put the maximum amount allowed in their product. And the colour E 150 D is burnt sugar obtained by caramelization, which can cause cancer. Also, synthetic flavours are added to make “fake food” a “real food” that you want to drink over and over again. It is important to note that such drinks do not help to lose weight. Sweeteners deceive our body - when they get a sweet taste, but not energy and nutrients, the desire to eat only intensifies. There are studies that confirm that such products promote overeating, and hence weight gain.

Can you have it as a treat and which option should you choose? Well, if you have indigestion and buy Coke only very rarely, you better go for traditional Coke, but if you choose this drink instead of water, because it is very tasty, I wish you good health!

Thanks for sharing an interesting post! Do you think the apparent harmful ingredients in the sugar-free version should be banned? Reply

I don’t drink any carbonated drink, when my children were young they wanted Coke because “everyone had Coke” so at their birthdays we had a compromise, they made cocktails, which was a dah of coke in lemonade. They loved this idea and their friends thought this was great! Reply

No, no I don't like it since you ask. I don't like the taste, the sugar, the price or the cost in plastic. Coca-Cola is the biggest producer of waste plastic in the world and the number one brand found on beach cleanups year after year. This drink is not necessary and I do not buy drinks in plastic bottles. Reply
